PLATH Hackathon 2019 … above the roofs of Prague
A Hackathon, also known as a Hack Day, Hackfest or Codefest, is an event where people meet in order to work together on software and/or hardware. That's exactly what we did! Three days! In Prague! With the whole business division RRS, consisting of our colleagues from Cyprus and Hamburg!
A total of 14 mixed teams worked on nine different topics, which also touched matters outside of our product landscape. We have shown spectra of radio waves on LED sticks with a Raspberry Pi, we have developed (3D) diagrams for our product platform, we disassembled the middleware of the product platform in order to try something new and we experimented in different projects with new technologies in order to equip our product platform later with a web interface. When the teams are satisfied with their own results they are free to handover their ideas to our innovation board. The topics will be discussed further in order to find possibilities to integrate them into our product landscape!
A highlight of the Hackathon was the presentation of the results of each team. Every team - without exception - was able to present something executable at the end. There was enough food and drinks over the whole event and the times at the bar were not too short to get in touch with colleagues from Hamburg and Cyprus. On the last day before the departure and after the presentation there was enough time to visit the city, putting a nice ending to the event. As a souvenir of the event everyone got a USB gadget with the imprint PLATH Hackathon 2019!
Team leader Michael is enthusiastic: "As team leader, I think it's great that PLATH supports such a cross-team hackathon and in this way further promotes cooperation between the various software teams. Our developers were able to deal with innovative topics in a relaxed atmosphere - far away from everyday office life - and had a lot of fun. Let's see when and where our next Hackathon will take place."< Back
